Would YOU Buy a $1000 Wireless Router?? Ruckus R700 Enterprise Access Point

When I picked up a Ruckus R700, I had a good idea of what I wanted to do to test it out. But that all changed when I started benchmarking…

Note: Yes, we know it’s not a router, but most people aren’t familiar with access points and will better understand what a router is.

ill say this i just got the ruckus system installed and it completely changed the internet capability of my house. having a house that was built in 1920’s never thought i would have internet throughout my house until i got this system. well worth the money .

Mitchell R says:

@Linus – I’d love to see an Ubiquity AC vs Mikrotik AC AP test.

Rukus is meant for enterprise grade wireless compared to commercial grade of the Ubiquity and Mikrotik but the comparison between them would be awesome.

Jaroneko says:

After moving to a Cisco 2504 controller and two Aironet 1702i access points at home, we’ve had a rock solid WiFi experience with not a single problem and throughput in the hundreds of megabits with no measurable jitter. And this is in an inner city apartment building, where my controller hears around 150 other access points. Now, I do understand the street price for this setup is beyond unreasonable in most people’s minds, but my wife and I would not go back. Wireless just does not need to suck and it’s a crying shame people accept it as something that’s ok to be barely serviceable.

JayzBeerz says:

the wrt1900ac is pure garbage

Able the fox says:

Great video, but you might want to check the graph at 3:12. It’s so low res I can’t even read it

Tosk Maister says:

9 megabits is acceptable to linus for web browsing…. my connection never goes over 5 megabits…. great

Matthew Hazlett says:

I don’t agree that consumer wifi is “bad” whatever that means. My routers been going faithfully for years and I connect via wifi.

VjSky says:

Stupid to skip Mikrotik when testing this kind of APs

Harry Kane says:

I am interested in networking but I have no idea how to start from. Could anyone please recommend anything? I don’t understand many technical words in the video, but I really wanna know clearly how great the WAP is. Thx in adv!

GT Barsi says:

Interesting test, but I would have loved to see how some other current generation APs stack up, such as current gen Ubiquity, and the current gen Apple Airport Extreme. While Apple is consumer grade they always do a great job with wireless and Ubiquity is in the enterprise space but has offerings that the ‘prosumer’ would appreciate.

Unless I missed something both of these solid platforms have been ignored in the last several AP reviews including when Google’s and Amazon’s multi access point platforms were reviewed. Unless I miss my mark both of these solutions could probably keep up with the R700 with two APs in every sense that is important to a high end user in a real world test, and for less money. I would really like to know if I am correct, and I am sure your followers would appreciate knowing how these platforms really stack up.
