Unboxing the brand new Smoke Gateway, by ThermoWorks. I also unbox the ThermoWorks Smoke base unit and illustrate the new app that ThermoWorks has developed for the Smoke Gateway.
The Smoke Gateway pairs via radio frequency (RF) with your existing Smoke thermometer. It then pairs with your Wi-Fi network to send temperatures and alerts to the Smoke Gateway app on your smartphone or smart device. The Smoke Gateway app allows you to view your temperatures anywhere with an internet connection. You can also view live graphs and export your data for deeper analysis.
This is only an unboxing, but I’ll be putting this unit to the test soon with a low and slow brisket cook in a basic, zero frills Weber Kettle. I’ll use the Smoke Gateway’s app to monitor the pit and meat temperatures with my phone and iPad, and I’ll use the app’s graph functionality to better understand how my pit performs and where my meat is at in the cooking process. Look for that video soon.
I’ve also got a video coming of a 28 day Dry-Aged USDA Prime whole boneless ribeye that I carved into steaks. I used the Umai Drybag Steak product to dry age in my home refrigerator. It was extremely easy and I was very happy with the result.
I’ve also got another video unboxing coming that reviews cookware we’ve all seen at Costco- their Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 13 piece Cookware set. It’s really nice and I’m already getting great results with it. If you’re ready to throw out a bunch of your cookware (or give it away), this set makes a lot of sense if you’re not quite ready to go the All Clad route.
