Upgrading FiOS Router To Quantum Gateway

Upgrading FiOS Router To Quantum Gateway

In this video I upgrade my Verizon FiOS router from the 2.4ghz Actiontect router to the FiOS Quantum Gateway router.

I was able to get my internet speeds even more improved which is great for doing video uploads.

EZ Off Grid says:

So Quantum means it comes with a dead cat?

Mike Wolf says:

Was hoping for a WAN speed comparison between the actiontec and the quantum on the gigabit tier.

Andy says:

Yeup, the older revision Actiontech routers cap out around 85Mb/s whereas the quantum has an incredibly high cap you’ll likely never reach even with Verizon’s highest speed package. Also of note is that Verizon typically affords 105% or therearound, they definitely do give you what you’re advertised..
Your computers motherboard ethernet standards may be also impacting that new 5Ghz spectrum speed and limiting you, but overall 5Ghz alone won’t be faster by inherency. It’s a less congested spectrum but it is less able to penetrate solid walls and objects compared to the crowded 2.4Ghz spectrum. If you go outside your house to use your phone whilst connected you may see some drops. It’s the ‘indoor band’, if you will.. But good vid!
